Artistic Wedding Invitations

One of our lovely brides, Michelle sent us her beautiful wedding invite in the mail. That got us thinking….you’re newly engaged, and while you’re happily dreaming up the possibilities it finally hits you. Where do I even start to actually plan my dream wedding?!  So many ideas, but many brides are limited on time, and budget. Where do you even begin?! Thankfully, we have the internet to help us out a little. Once you have your “must haves” (location, date & time), you can start to think about invitations. These are the first thing people will see for your wedding, setting the tone for your event. Is your event going to be formal, casual, or somewhere in between? The invitations will let your guest know exactly what kind of great time they are in for, and typically how to dress as well. There are a few things to consider when selecting your wedding invites.

Color scheme- Wedding invites tend to mirror the decor you have envisioned for your big day. So no matter if it’s grey and yellow, navy and orange, or as Michelle selected- pink and orange, pick something that will introduce the colors your select for your big day.

Wording- The wording is what will tell your guest what “type” of event you will be hosting. If it is formal, your wording will be formal. If it is casual, your wording will be simple. Feel free to search the internet for online resources assisting in invitation wording.

Graphics & Font- Would you like to use an image from your gorgeous engagement session? Yes please! The most popular choices are typically an image of the bride and groom to be, or a trendy graphic that will also carry out your theme. Are you going for a sweet vintage feel? Bird graphics are definitely a popular choice. Using a mix of fonts helps add variety as well.

Extras- Looking for a little something to jazz up your invite? Try tying a ribbon or bow around your invite such as Michelle did.  We have even seen some detailed stitching sewn right onto the invites!

The options are unlimited when it comes to invitations. You can Do It Yourself, order online, or go through a store. Either way, be sure to allow enough time to design, print, and send them to your fabulous guest. Experts suggest sending your invites out about six weeks prior to your wedding date. This gives your guest time to not only RSVP, but clear their calendar and make travel arrangements if need be. This also gives you enough time to create your seating chart and think about final numbers for rentals. P.s. check out that QR code! Guest can use their smart phone to take them directly to RSVP. Thank you Michelle for sharing your amazing invites, we can’t wait for your special day!
